Two thousand individually pocketed springs, with a cooling gel layer over the top. The springs move independently, so support follows the shape of your body rather than pushing back as a single unit - and because each one is pocketed, movement on one side of the bed stays there. The gel layer draws heat away from the surface, which makes this the one to choose if you like the responsiveness of springs but sleep warm. A reflex foam base underneath adds instant spring-back rather than the slow sink of foam alone. The foam is CertiPUR certified, meaning it is independently tested and free from heavy metals and dyes. Both the materials and the mattress itself are made here in Britain, in a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Yorkshire, and the whole mattress is tested to UK fire safety regulations. The soft knit cover unzips completely and machine washes.
