    New Business Development Manager

    As a result of our continued growth and ongoing success, we are seeking a dynamic New Business Development Manager to be based at our London Great Portland Street Office.

     

    About the Role:

    We are looking for a commercially driven New Business Development Manager to help grow our Marketplace by identifying, acquiring and launching new third-party sellers and brands. Reporting to the Head of Marketplace, you will lead a team of business development professionals, build a strong pipeline of opportunities and secure partnerships that expand product choice, close range gaps and drive profitable growth across our retail brands. As a key member of the Marketplace leadership team, you will combine strategic thinking, relationship-building and commercial expertise to deliver long-term success.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Own seller acquisition across allocated marketplace categories, identifying and securing new sellers, brands and strategic partners to support business growth.
    • Define acquisition priorities using customer demand, search trends, competitor analysis and commercial objectives.
    • Build, manage and maintain a high-quality pipeline of prospective sellers and brands, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
    • Lead commercial negotiations, agreeing commission structures, fees and commercial terms that deliver value for both the business and partners.
    • Identify and address range gaps, category opportunities and brand partnerships to strengthen the overall customer proposition.
    • Lead, coach and develop a team of New Business Leads and Executives, creating a high-performing and results-driven culture.
    • Deliver agreed targets for new seller acquisition, live SKUs and incremental GMV growth.
    • Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and successful launch of new marketplace partners.
    • Ensure all prospective sellers complete the necessary compliance, legal and due diligence requirements before trading.
    • Build strong relationships with external partners, including brands, agencies, marketplace integrators and industry bodies.
    • Represent the marketplace at industry events, trade shows and networking opportunities to identify and attract new business opportunities.
    • Contribute market insights, competitor intelligence and pipeline visibility to support wider marketplace strategy and decision-making.

     

    Person Specification:

    Essential

    • Proven experience in business development, seller acquisition, partnership management or commercial sales within an eCommerce, marketplace or retail environment.
    • Demonstrable success in identifying, negotiating and securing new business opportunities and commercial partnerships.
    • Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing sales or business development teams.
    • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate contracts, commission structures and commercial terms.
    • Experience managing a high-volume sales pipeline and using CRM systems to forecast and track performance.
    • Ability to analyse customer, market and competitor data to identify growth opportunities and prioritise activity.
    • Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
    • Customer-focused, commercially minded and driven by achieving growth targets.
    • Resilient, proactive and able to maintain momentum through long sales cycles and changing business priorities.

    Desired

    • Experience working within an online marketplace environment.
    • Understanding of marketplace economics, seller acquisition strategies and third-party seller ecosystems.
    • Experience within a multi-brand retail business.
    • Knowledge of category management, digital trading or merchandising principles.
    • Experience developing strategic brand partnerships and joint growth initiatives.
    • Familiarity with seller onboarding, compliance and due diligence processes.
    • Experience representing a business at trade shows, industry events or networking functions.
    • Knowledge of marketplace integrators, agencies and channel partners.

    Position: Permanent, Full-time

    Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:45am – 17:30pm.

    Location: London & Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite.
