    Management Accountant

    As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success, we are seeking a dynamic Management Accountant to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.

     

    About the Role:

    We are seeking a skilled and proactive Management Accountant to join the finance team of a large, successful retail business headquarters in Plymouth. This role plays a key part in supporting the financial operations of our trading subsidiary in the Republic of Ireland. You’ll work closely with a team of Management Accountants and the wider Finance Team to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, support strategic decision-making, and ensure robust financial control.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet, and reporting packs, with variance analysis against budget.
    • Monitor and forecast working cashflow to support business liquidity.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance including VAT, ONS, and Intrastat returns.
    • Support the full finance function including Revenue, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Expenditure.
    • Review and maintain sensitive nominal codes across P&L and Balance Sheet.
    • Post journals and assist in budgeting and reforecasting processes.
    • Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations.
    • Oversee supplier and employee payments.
    • Assist with fixed asset management and depreciation.
    • Partner with key teams across the business to provide financial insight and support.
    • Review and challenge monthly accruals.
    • Contribute to departmental projects aimed at streamlining processes.
    • Support year-end audit preparation and other ad hoc tasks as required.

     

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Proven experience in a commercial finance environment.
    • Strong background in preparing management accounts with commentary.
    • Experience working with multiple currencies.
    • Advanced Excel skills: financial modelling experience is desirable.
    • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Confidence to challenge existing practices and drive improvements.

    Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:45am – 17:30pm.
