    Imports Scheduling Assistant

As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Imports Scheduling Assistant to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.

     

    About the Role:

    The Import Department will be handling in excess of 20,000 containers a year. We're looking for a highly motivated candidate with excellent attention to detail and who can demonstrate strong organisational, communications and IT skills.

    The Import department is a challenging environment, having to work within tight procedures and deadlines, as well as managing many external pressures simultaneously.  Therefore, the ability to work well under pressure, multitask whilst maintaining accuracy and high levels of productivity is essential. The role will suit someone who enjoys a challenge, likes problem solving and who works best when under pressure.  You will need excellent communication skills in this scheduling role which heavily involves telephone and email work. Reviewing, preparing, and communicating the delivery schedules to our agents & DC sites is crucial.  You will need to build a good working relationship with all the key stake holders of the business.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Scheduling our sea freight container deliveries from port to distribution centre within our set booking structure
    • Reporting & communication of delivery schedules to all parties
    • Ensuring accurate preparation and distribution of scheduling reports
    • Investigating and resolving delivery issues (no shows, late arrivals, additional costs incurred)
    • Updating & monitoring of information onto our bespoke systems
    • Monitoring, scheduling all container deliveries to set guidelines
    • Working well under pressure independently and within the team
    • Booking in UK / EU deliveries to our Distribution Centres within our set booking structure
    • Monitoring, scheduling and invoicing our Backload service.
    • Investigating, raising & resolving claims with agents, suppliers (UK & International)
    • General assistance, reporting and communication between the various departments (DC’s, Agents, Buying, Logistics, Supply Chain) and general Admin & correspondence within the import dept

     

    Person Specification:

    • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency of work
    • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize own workload
    • The ability to communicate effectively with The Range stake-holders
    • The ability to work calmly when under pressure
    • Fast learner, able to multi-task
    • Confident with IT systems, particularly Microsoft 365 (office), online platforms
    • Intermediate level Excel, must be confident in use and quick learner (excel test may be requested prior to interview)
