Scenic Fishing Spots in the UK

With over 10,000km of coastline and a web of rivers, streams and lakes, the UK is a haven for those who like to spend their Sunday casting a line or two. Here’s a list of some of our favourite spots.

Loch Lomond, Scotland

Situated on the border of the Scottish highlands and lowlands, Loch Lomond is the largest freshwater loch in the UK, containing a dazzling variety of fish! Salmon and sea trout can be found here, as well as perch, roach, rainbow trout, brown trout and chub to name a few. It’s also considered one of the best places for pike fishing in the UK by the Pike Angler’s Club of Great Britain.

Lake District, Cumbria

Majestic fells and deep, dark lakes are your backdrop to fishing in the Lake District. Here, you can free fish in the large lakes of Windermere, Coniston and Ullswater, with plenty of game fishing for salmon, sea and brown trout. Take a hike up some of the mountains and catch yourself a tasty dinner of wild trout in the high tarns, or head to the coast for some bass and mullet. The Lake District is also the only place in England with Char - head for the deeper lakes.

The Broads, Norfolk

Flowing amongst the reed beds and marshes are over 200 miles of freshwater rivers and shallow lakes, making the Norfolk Broads a fishing paradise that caters to all abilities of an angler. You’ll find perch, bream, roach and carp swimming around here, as well as world-class pike fishing. Apart from specially protected areas, much of The Broads allows free fishing, so you can turn up, cast a line and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you.

Northumberland

With a rugged coastline and sweeping moorland, Northumberland is a wild landscape that will get into the soul of any angler. A dazzling web of rivers, streams and lakes means world class beats and plenty of fish to catch. Head to the coast for a chance at cod, mackerel and pollock, while the mighty River Tweed offers salmon, trout and grayling. Many regard the River Tweed as the best place to catch Atlantic salmon in Britain!
