Learning how to make your own mouth-watering ice creams is a great way to impress friends and family at summer gatherings. Making your own ice cream gives you more control over what goes into your dishes, perfect for people with dietary requirements, allergies and specific tastes. There are many ways to create your own ice cream, we've compiled a few of them and some yummy recipes for you to try out.
The simplest way to make ice cream is using an ice cream maker. An ice cream maker will allow you to add the ingredients and will then do all the hard work for you.
Another method is combining your ingredients with a whisk (an electric whisk will make this step easier), placing the mixture in your freezer and then check on it every 30 minutes to stir it well to ensure ice crystals don’t form.
An alternative to this is to use frozen fruit. You can buy packs of frozen fruit from most supermarkets, or you can freeze fresh fruit at home. Add the frozen fruit, some double cream and icing sugar into a blender and serve immediately or put in the freezer for later.
Step 1 - Add the vanilla and cream to the saucepan and bring to boil
Step 2 - Add the sugar and mix until dissolved
Step 3 - In your mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and then add to the saucepan
Step 4 - Add the mixture to your freezable rub or baking tray, place it in the freezer and check on it every 30 minutes to stir
Step 5 - Move it to the fridge 5 minutes before serving
