Chris Spells it out to PM

Chris Spells it out to PM Chris Dawson, Owner and Founder of The Range, Britain’s fastest growing home, leisure and garden retailer attended No10 along with a selection of entrepreneurs from the UK’s fastest growing businesses to meet with the Prime Minister.

The reception was held by David Cameron who spoke to a selection of UK Entrepreneurs about the challenges that we are facing and was very open to suggestions on how we improve things in UK business.

Whilst Mr Cameron was speaking to guests, Chris made his way over to him to discuss planning rules. “We have been lobbying our local MP to do something about the planning rule” said Chris. The pair discussed the problems facing The Range, which is expanding rapidly by acquiring assets and stock from the collapse of Focus DIY, MFI, Empire and TJ Hughes. “If you are trying to build on retail parks it has got to go faster. If the planning application fails, it fails. But it has taken me a year to put a door in my building and it’s owned by the council” added Chris.

The meeting with Cameron followed on from a big night for Chris which saw him compete with 54 other business leaders from companies across London and the South, where he was crowned Ernst & Young Overall Entrepreneur of the year 2011.
